Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Perform assigned laboring jobs such as loading and unloading material from trucks;
  • Operate various hand and power tools as required and qualified;
  • Operate equipment as required and qualified;
  • Install guardrail as directed by the Foreman and/or crew leader;
  • Inspect vehicle and/or equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil and water as required by company procedures and good operating practices;
  • Perform roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing bulbs and other minor maintenance items as directed by Foreman;
  • Maintain assigned vehicle and/or equipment in a clean condition both inside and outside;
  • Complete all required paper work as directed by Company procedures and Forman;
  • Verify all warning and safety devices are installed and operating as directed by Foreman:
  • Clean project site and yard area as directed;
  • May be required to direct traffic (if qualified and licensed) at project site;
  • Work with other members of the crew to complete assigned tasks;
  • Responsible for following all company safety practices.

Qualifications:

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos in English. Ability to write simple correspondence.

  • Driver is responsible for the proper loading of all cargo on the truck and trailer, including securing the load;
  • Inspect truck and trailer equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil and water as required by company procedures and good operating practices;
  • Performs roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing bulbs and other minor maintenance items as directed by Foreman;
  • Maintain truck in a clean condition both inside and outside;

Supervisor Responsibilities:
Supervise employees as assigned and be responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of his/her crew and/or staff. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s procedures and applicable laws. Responsibilities include on-the-job training of employees: planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance and quality of work; disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment and enforcing all company safety procedures.

Summary:
Directs activities of workers concerned with installation of guardrail, grading, placing aggregate base material, placing asphalt material, and other related tasks by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Responsible for all aforementioned duties and responsibilities for laborer/guardrail erector/operator and truck driver and to oversee that duties and responsibilities outlined in two aforementioned job descriptions (laborer/guardrail erector/ operator and truck driver) are adhered to;
  • Direct and verifies compliance with Company Safety Procedures and Programs;
  • Assign members of the crew at the start of a project and on a daily basis as required;
  • Request procurement of tools and materials to be available and/or delivered at specific times to conform to work schedules;
  • Confer with management, DOT prime contractor personnel, and/or subcontractor personnel engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays;
  • Confer with management and other employees to resolve complaints within the work force;
  • Confer with management, engineers, inspectors and suppliers of materials to resolve construction problems;
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and the adherence to construction schedule;
  • Accurately report all work hours;
  • Accurately report all work quantities for projects worked on;
  • Accurately report overnight lodging;
  • Report all accidents and required accident reports in a timely manner;
  • Responsible for submission of all documentation for delivered materials, purchased materials, fuel receipts, etc.;
  • Check for or direct others to check for evidence of utilities at each construction site;
  • Adhering to Miss Utility by-laws

Qualifications:

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, construction specifications, drawings, blue prints, and operation and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with customers, inspectors/engineers, and company employees.
